Joining The Ethical Move
The Social Palm isn’t just about social media marketing for ethical brands, it’s also about having an ethical approach to business and social media in particular.
That’s why The Ethical Move’s mission really resonates with me and motivated me to take their ethical marketing pledge:
“It’s time to break the rules and make the ethical choice for the good of all – not just a select few. We are the movement for ethical marketing. And we are making the first move. We are calling psychological manipulation unethical and are collectively changing the marketplace towards transparency, responsibility, and honesty – with a pledge and a badge that shows our commitment.” (via theethicalmove.org/about)
Here is what I wrote in my own Ethical Move pledge for The Social Palm:
The world has massively changed since I learned marketing in business school, and I believe the way we market products and services needs to adapt as well. Marketing can, and should, be used to help make a positive impact on a local and global scale! That’s why my business’ mission is to help entrepreneurs that place people and the planet at the heart of what they do grow via social media in a mindful, inclusive and ethical way.
some of the actions I’ve taken to put that pledge into practice:
- Organizing masterclasses on ethics and social media for 4th year communication school students.
- Giving a guest talk on Ethical Social Media Practices to business owners via The Green Marketing AcademyTM.
- Developing social media strategies for conscious brands that focus on not only communicating but also incorporating their values into every aspect, from accessible & inclusive content, to respectful engagement strategies and more.
- Managing social media ad campaigns while making sure the graphics and copy are inclusive and accessible and that the targeting is appropriately done.
And this is just the beginning!
