As the days get shorter and the leaves continue to fall, the spookiest season of all starts to roll in. If Halloween isn’t really your (pumpkin-spiced) jam, then rest assured. There are plenty of other interesting international events coming up in October that you could talk about for your conscious brand. Check out a few of my favorites below!
All month: Pink October

Share breast cancer awareness facts, resources & organizations. Encourage your community to get regular checkups. Reminder: breast cancer isn’t exclusive to cis women. For instance, 1% of breast cancer patients are cis men.
October 1st: World Vegetarian Day

Share the ecological & health benefits of a vegetarian diet, your own vegetarian journey or tasty plant-based recipes & cooking tips. The month of October is also #VegetarianAwarenessMonth.
October 2nd: World Habitat Day
#WorldHabitatDay
This year’s theme is “Resilient urban economies. Cities as drivers of growth and recovery” so why not share some of your favorite initiatives in your city or others around the world building greater social & environmental justice?
October 4th: World Animal Day
#WorldAnimalDay
Highlight animal rights activists, initiatives, & organizations your conscious business supports. Talk about the link between animal welfare/protection and sustainability. Share conscious life lessons we can learn from animals.
October 6th: World Smile Day®
#WorldSmileDay #WSDChallenge
Launched by Harvey Ball, the artist who created the smiley face in 1963, World Smile Day® takes place on the 1st Friday of October, with the goal of spreading kindness and making others smile. Share some of the things that have made you smile lately and ask your community to share theirs. For instance: personal or business news, positive environmental & social justice news, etc.
October 7th: World Cotton Day

Talk about the environmental impact of different textiles and the importance of organic, eco-certified cotton and the different labels/certifications that exist, especially if you have a sustainable fashion brand.
October 9th: World Post Day

Share your favorite eco-friendly postage solutions, such as vegan inks & compostable stickers for labels, or envelopes, boxes, and bags items can be shipped in that can then be composted or reused, especially if you have a product-based business.
October 10th: World Mental Health Day

Discuss the importance of quality mental health care access for all, share mental health resources & tips or even your own personal mental health journey and tips that have helped you.
October 16th: World Food Day

The 2023 theme is “Water is life, water is food. Leave no one behind.”. Why not highlight some of your favorite (local or international) initiatives and innovations helping provide food access/resources to underserved communities?
